Wang Qing is a Shanghainese artist who spent nearly two decades in Tokyo, Japan, winning numerous awards and achieving a PhD from Tokyo Fine Arts University. He was the recipient of The 32nd Ueno Royal Museum Grand Prize winner in Japan and was awarded with a solo exhibition at Ueno Royal Museum in February 2016.
Wang is an artist that a lot of people are talking about; a secret to some, known to many. Like a dairy itself his paintings record a life of growth, both of his own and that of his country of birth. His work spans a time of miraculous change in his own career, and a successful homecoming to a land that has also emerged triumphant. Other works, newer styled paintings, deal with the theme of inter- generational conflict so commonly found in families in China today. They are eccentric, dense, complexly layered, simply executed and certainly captivating and universal in their appeal.
