Marc Leuthold

Marc Leuthold is a dual-national citizen of the United States and Switzerland and lives in Shanghai, China and New York. Leuthold is a Professor at the State University of New York and an International Professor at Shanghai Institute of Visual Arts. He has previously taught at Princeton University, Parsons School of Design in New York City and Tsinghua University (China’s Harvard) in Beijing. Leuthold is a lifetime elected member – one of 700 world-wide, of the International Academy of Ceramics, a UNESCO organization based in Geneva, Switzerland. His artwork is in the permanent collections of Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, the Smithsonian Museum of Art in Washington, the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, the Museum of Art and Design in New York City and the Brooklyn Museum, also in New York City. The artist creates objects, videos, and mixed media installations that create a dialogue between cultures, history, social justice, and the senses. Leuthold has exhibited artwork at PS1-MoMA of New York City and the China Art Museum in Shanghai. His upcoming September exhibition “Hand and Machine” with artist Li LiHong, will be at Art Labor Gallery, Shanghai’s most respected modern art gallery. The artist has been invited to lecture, exhibit and create art in many locations world-wide.
